Our teacher is Mr Friend from Monday to Thursday, and Mrs Gemmell on Fridays.
We are also supported by TAs including:
Mrs Somerset, Mrs Knapp and Mrs Allen.
Our topic this term is the Derwent Reservoirs. We will be looking at maps and in particular why the reservoirs were built in the Upper Derwent Valley; we will be looking at the Derwent Valley through history - before, during and after the building of the dams.
Homework will be sent out on a Wednesday and is expected to be in by the following Monday . To support children with homework they have the option to attend homework club on a Friday after school. Also I will be available to help children with homework during lunch times.
Year 5 children are invited to attend Early Maths which takes place on a Tuesday and Thursday at 08:10. This club is free and is designed to be a fun additional session where mental and oral maths learning takes place. The emphasis is on developing skills, accuracy and speed for mental calculations which supports formal written calculations. If you are interested, please see Mrs Gemmell or Mr Friend.
PE is on a Wednesday and Friday afternoon. Children need to bring their kit to all session and warm clothing may be required as often we do PE outdoors even in this cold weather. A 'beanie hat', fleece jumper, tracksuit bottoms or leggings and fingerless gloves can be useful.
Music lessons are taken by Mrs Taylor on Wednesday afternoon. This term the children are learning to play the clarinet.
Additional guitar and violin lessons (chargeable) take place on Tuesdays.
Mrs Higginson takes a Spanish lesson on Friday afternoon.
