Spring Term 2 2022
This term, our topic is 'The Dams of the Upper Derwent Valley' - in which we will investigate the history of the dams and the physical geography that made the dams possible. In art we will be focussing on drawing buildings, including the dams. In design and technology lessons we will be studying arch structures and relate this to the design of the dams.
Homework
Homework will usually be set on Wednesday and is expected to be in by the following Monday . I will be available to help children with homework during lunch times. Homework sheets will given to the children.
Homework will usually consist of:
Morning Maths
Year 5 and 6 children are encouraged to attend Early Maths which takes place on a Tuesday and Thursday from 08:10. This club is free and is designed to be a fun additional session where mental and oral maths learning takes place. The emphasis is on developing skills, accuracy and speed for mental calculations which supports formal written calculations. If you are interested, please see Mrs Gemmell or Mr Friend.
PE
PE is usually on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Children need to wear their PE kit to school on these days and warm clothing may be required as often we do PE outdoors even in cold weather. A 'beanie hat', fleece jumper, tracksuit bottoms or leggings and fingerless gloves may be useful.
